Urban Collections
All our urban collections are based on the history of Northumberland. Our workshop is in Berwick-upon-Tweed, which was one of the major ports for both Scotland and England. It changed hands many times before 1603: and as such has a strong military history.
Embedded into the cobbles and walls of the docks, piers and even houses are large mooring rings, and boat shackles which would have held warships, merchant vessels and fishing boats that have since eroded into fantastical shapes. So Quayside is our nautical jewellery range, featuring tactile and kinetic silver designs that have a maritime theme. To give added colour we have teamed the boat shackle design with ancient sea glass found on the beaches beneath the walls of the town.
The Bastion range still uses the same textures as Quayside but its shapes reflect the defensive walls and bastions surround Berwick-upon-Tweed.
Within sight of Berwick is Lindisfarne (also known as Holy Island), and pilgrims would pass though the town to get to the abbey there. Lindisfarne is our range of crosses, two are in the Celtic tradition based on our mooring rings design and the other is based on the gold pectoral cross found in St. Cuthbert's tomb. St. Cuthbert was abbot of Lindisfarne and is the patron Saint of Northumberland.
